Hornish Wins, Andretti(s) Dazzle

Sam Hornish and Roger Penske had the fastest car in the race and everyone knew it. Despite bad racing luck and a late caution flag, Hornish had just enough left to pass rookie Marco Andretti in the race's final yards in a thrilling finish to the 90th Indy 500.

All the talk was about team Letterman and Danica Patrick, who finished a respectable 8th, but in the end it was the 19-year-old Andretti who stole the show. Andretti, who needless to say is the third generation of America's most recognizable open-wheel racing name, passed his father Michael to grab the lead with just 2 laps to go.

When Hornish attempted a pass in turn 3 and was promptly blocked by Andretti on the inside, it appeared that the Rookie would have enough car to reach the checkered flag. Hornish regrouped, however, and delivered a beautifully timed pass to win a 500 mile race by less than 2 car lengths.

Who knows, with the combination of Danicamania and, now, Marcomania, maybe this sport does have a future?

Really, why not use this shot twice in one day?
